Find Your Next Treasure at The Cottage
When you walk into The Cottage at the top of Lexington Avenue and College Street, you’re met with striking décor and intriguing treasures around every corner, such as vintage clothes, amazing-smelling soaps and gorgeous standout pieces of jewelry.
“We are a quaint, small cozy boutique that has an eclectic collection of both old and new items in every price point to serve our diverse community,” Sally Lawton, the owner of The Cottage, said.
The Cottage originally started its journey in Lewes, Delaware back in 2008. The store had a successful, terrific following for 10 years in the area, but Lawton said time stands still for no one.
“I packed up my trucks, exchanged my seashells for rocks, waves for rivers as the mountains of Asheville were calling!” she explained.
Lawton’s unique store quickly went from a 300-sq. ft. storefront in Delaware to and 1,800-sq. ft. space in the heart of Asheville.
The Cottage is not your typical chain store experience. “I’m an artist,” Lawton said,” and my canvas is my store.”
This shows in the delicate details she puts into each and every nook and cranny of her new store. Many of the pieces The Cottage uses for displays are even from Lawton’s personal antique collection.
“I take pride in my store,” she said, “and in seeing the joy in my customers’ faces as they explore and discover all our treasures.”
The Cottage held their Grand Opening last month, which went exceedingly well. “We had a lot of locals, as well as out of town customers,” Lawton explained.
Currently, the store is turning into a winter wonderland just in time for Christmas. Next time you’re downtown, take a stroll inside The Cottage to be transported into another, much more eclectic dimension.
Lawton and her employees will be happy to help you find just the right treasure! And remember to sprinkle yourself with Fairy Dust before you leave to complete your magical experience at The Cottage!
