The Asheville Food Fan Awards are Back!

It’s time, people! One of the top authentically Asheville events of the year is happening on Monday, the 27th, and if you’ve ever been to one of our friend Shay Brown’s soirees, you know it’s going to be amazing! Add the hilariously irreverent food expert Stu Helm and Mr. AshVegas, Jason Sanford to the mix and know you’ll leave full AND entertained. Last year we discovered some of our most favorite dishes that we had not tried from attending the Asheville Food Fan Awards, and we’re super curious about who will win what this year. Heads up that as always, it will sell out, so don’t be an Asheville procrastinator and wait to get your tickets!

You may have noticed the name change from “The Stoobie Awards” to the “Asheville Food Fan Awards." If you’re wondering why, it’s because last year after the amazing live ceremony, party, and all of the time and effort that everyone put into everything, Stu Helm realized this thing had outgrown him and the simple name The Stoobies! So, while all of the nominees and winners will still be chosen by Stu, and no one else, the name isn’t such an inside joke anymore. The joke being that when Stu started awarding these “Best of” six years ago, literally no one cared, so he thought it would be funny to name them after himself in an act of sarcastic self-aggrandizement. Now that people actually do care, the decision was made to give them a new name.

Stu has enlisted a secret academy of eaters who will help him find more of the great food out there in Asheville. Just as the awards themselves have outgrown Stu and the original vision, so has the food scene outgrown his capacity to keep up with all of it and try every little thing. So Stu formed an academy of members who will be steering him towards the best bites and dishes they’ve had this year, as well as weighing in on their favorite chefs and restaurants. Stu will still be making all of the final decisions, but the folks recruited to advise Stu are what he calls his A-team, compadres, councilors and fellow hardcore eaters.

So mark your calendars and grab your tickets here! Here are all of the juicy details:
