A series on how local businesses are adjusting to the COVID-19 crisis

Melissa Ward, co-owner of Rustic Grape Wine Bar, tells us how her business has adapted to COVID-19 by hosting virtual concerts for musicians who were regular players at the wine bar. She's also moved the Women and Wine Happy Hour online and she and her partner have been helping feed those in need!

See the video interview here!
While we've all had to adjust to the "new normal" (whatever that is), our local business owners and managers each have their own story to tell about how they've been affected and what they are doing during these unprecedented times. Dig Local is proud to partner with our friend, Ann Smith, at Leap Frog Tours to interview some of the awesome folks who make Asheville, Asheville.

We dig this! Pick up your free "to go" chef-prepared meals as you cruise through our drive-thru while listening to a mini-concert of live music from the safety of your car!

Asheville is a food town AND a music town. We've hit some hard times, for sure, but If you could use a delicious free meal and some uplifting music right about now, please join Food Connection on Saturdays for our new Asheville Meals and Music Complimentary Drive-Thru at the Downtown YMCA from noon to 2pm. We've opened up this meal to include Service Industry Heroes AND anyone else who is in need of a free meal. If you don't need a free meal, but want to help others you can purchase meals here.

May 16th: Entertainment featuring
Brady Alden (noon) and I,Star (1pm) brought to you by Red Wing Enterprises.

Big THANKS to the crew at Wicked Weed Brewing for the meals!

Five More Local Tunes Have Been
Added to the Dig Local Playlist on Spotify!

One of the five new songs added this week is "Hanging in the Balance" by Hope Griffin.

"Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Hope Griffin was literally born into music. Surrounded by a musical family, she began singing and performing when she was very young. Hope first got turned onto the idea of writing her own music when she received a guitar at age 17. She attended Carson-Newman University and went on to receive a Bachelors degree in classical voice. It was there that her true flair for songwriting developed. Hope’s drive to perform her original works was launched after winning a songwriters contest in college in 2007. She eventually moved to Asheville, North Carolina where she began introducing her angelic vocals and folky lyrics into the music scene."

Listen to her song Hanging in the Balance on our playlist.
