Fried Deviled Eggs & Puppies: What More Could You Want?

Join Catawba Brewing Co. and Mountain Pet Rescue on May 2nd for barks, blooms, bluegrass, and beer! Mountain Pet Rescue will bring adoptable dogs and puppies.  $1 per pint of Catawba’s Tropical Smoothie Sour that is sold on the day of the event will be donated to Mountain Pet Rescue. Sun Dragon Farm will also have fresh flowers available for sale and there will be amazing food from Kinfolk food truck. While you dine and drink, you can enjoy live Bluegrass music with Aubrey and Justin Eisenman. Head to Catawba on Sunday, May 2nd from 1 pm-4 pm!

Sand Volleyball, Live Music, and Beer!
 

Who's ready to get their toes in the sand and enjoy a tasty brew? Highland Brewing Company will be kicking off their Meadow season with a weekend of live music, sports, and a local market. Starting the party on the 30th The Get Right Band will be playing from 6-8 PM and going into “May Day” on the 1st! “May Day” marks the opening of volleyball reservations at Highland, the Meadow features three, professional grade sand courts! On the 2nd join Highland for Meadow Market Sundays, that will happen every Sunday from 12-5 PM featuring a selection of local bakers, makers, and artisans. There will also be live music from 3-5 PM by local performers!

Graveyard Fields- not scary at all Pt. 1 - Hike #8

Time to get outside!  Lower Falls is a short .5 mile hike through a heavily trafficked back trail. Through Graveyard Fields, you can wander amongst all of North Carolina’s beautiful waterfalls and blooming wildflowers. Just off of the Graveyard Fields Trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway, this is a good hike for all skill levels. As temperatures continue to warm up expect to see  Lower Falls packed because it is a popular swimming hole for splashing around in the cool mountain water! The Orange Constant formed in 2012 and has since made a name for itself across the American Southeast. They are known for their smooth and jammin’ indierock style and will be performing at The Grey Eagle patio stage this Saturday, May 1st starting at 7pm! Join LEAF Resident Teaching Artist, Adama Dembele, and dive into the sounds, rhythms and customs of West African culture in this online class for adults. In this YouTube class, Adama seeks to share a holistic understanding of his deep cultural roots including language, the rhythms of the djembe drum and accompanying dances and customary dress, the historical context and storytelling properties of the music, a sense of place and more.
