Spicer Greene Jewelers is a fine jewelry and watch store at 121 Patton Avenue in downtown Asheville, set in a 1920s Art Deco building that started out as a gas station. The business goes back to 1926, when E.O. Wick opened a small repair shop on Wall Street. Today it's run by Eva-Michelle and Elliott Spicer, both GIA graduate gemologists, who renamed it Spicer Greene in 2016. Come here to buy, sell or upgrade jewelry, and there's a second store on Main Street in Hendersonville.
No appointment needed, so walk in any day but Sunday. Look for the restored 1920s Seth Thomas street clock out front, one of downtown's best-known landmarks.
Shoppers rave about the repair and sizing work and the estate jewelry cases, and the staff take time to help you figure out your style without pushing a sale. The store holds a 4.9-star rating across more than 1,800 Google reviews.
