Hands On! Children's Museum is a hands-on museum for kids ages 1 to 10 at 318 North Main Street in downtown Hendersonville, about 30 minutes south of Asheville. It has more than 13,000 square feet of kid-powered exhibits where children explore, build and play their way through pretend play, science and art. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, and it's closed Sundays and major holidays. Admission is $12 for adults and children and $4 for infants, plus tax, and members get in free. Through the Access for All program, Western North Carolina families facing financial hardship can visit for free. Hands On! also hosts birthday parties, field trips and seasonal events like its Halloween Boo Bash.
The entrance is next to Black Bear Coffee on Main Street. Every child must come with an adult, so plan for a grown-up to stay. Call (828) 697-8333 to book a party.
Hendersonville parents call it a go-to on rainy days, and grandparents bring the grandkids back again and again.
