What you need to know

North Carolina Stage Company is a 125-seat, off-Broadway style professional theatre, producing 4-7 plays per season in the heart of Downtown Asheville. We have been committed to connecting people to plays that illuminate the shared human experience through artistic excellence, integrity, and exploration for over two decades. Currently in its 21st season, NC Stage was founded by Charlie and Angie Flynn-McIver in 2001. After establishing vibrant acting and directing careers in New York City, the couple returned to their home state of North Carolina to establish NC Stage Company, and have been producing professional theatre ever since. NC Stage has been twice recognized for artistic excellence by both the prestigious American Theatre Wing and the North Carolina Theatre Conference George A. Parides Award. The company was also voted best local theatre for 11 out of the past 13 years in the Mountain Xpress Best of WNC Poll. NC Stage has hosted 3 world premieres, including Stalking the Boogyman in 2013, Curvy Widow, and Brave New World, both in 2016. NC Stage is a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works with members of Actors’ Equity Association, the Union of Professional Actors and Stage Managers in the United States, under a Small Professional Theatre Tier 4 Contract.
