Mondays at RendezVous in East Asheville mean the French Burger for $15. It's a 6 oz burger with caramelized onions, gruyère and comté, cornichons and whole grain mustard, served with pommes frites.

RendezVous is a French bistro in East Asheville on New Haw Creek Road, run by Michel Baudouin, who spent 20 years running Bouchon downtown. He grew up on a farm near France's Rhône Valley, and the menu is French comfort food made with local ingredients from places like Sunburst Trout Farms and City Bakery. Look for moules frites with four mussel preparations, escargots, raclette fondue, house pâtés and frites with herbes de Provence. It's in a converted church with a barn for outdoor dining, pétanque courts and a long list of French wines. Dinner runs nightly from 4:30.

Neighbors like skipping the downtown parking hunt, and regulars linger for a game of pétanque after dinner.
