More than 30 local farms and food makers fill North Market Street every Saturday from 9am to noon. Shop fall produce, meat, eggs, cheese, bread, pastries and flowers. SNAP and Double SNAP are accepted. Starting in December the market shifts to winter hours, 10am to 1pm. Grab a coffee and make it your Saturday loop.

Asheville City Market is a producer-only farmers market on North Market Street in downtown Asheville, between Woodfin and Walnut streets. ASAP, the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project, opened it in 2008, and more than 30 local farms and food makers set up every Saturday with seasonal produce, meat, eggs, cheese, bread, pastries and flowers. Saturday hours run 9am to noon from April through November and 10am to 1pm from December through March, with no market the weeks of Christmas and New Year's. The street closes to traffic during market hours, and SNAP and Double SNAP are accepted.

Downtown regulars treat it as the Saturday morning ritual: coffee in hand, a loop past the bakers first, then the farm tables before the best stuff sells out.
