The Scoop
Taylor's Wave gets its first competition. The Green Race Rodeo brings freestyle kayaking, a creek boat race, an attainment race and a mass start to Woodfin's new whitewater wave on the French Broad. Racers check in at River Bend on Riverside Drive from 8:30 to 10:30 AM. Freestyle starts at 11, creek boats at 1, attainment at 3 and the mass start at 4. There's no parking at the wave, so park at River Bend and paddle down. The awards party at River Bend runs from 5 to 11 PM. It's $40 to race or $20 for the party only. Register through Green Race and come watch the wave's first big day.
