Finding a job can be tough in the Asheville area, but massage therapists are definitely in high demand.
If you’ve ever wanted to set your own schedule, be your own boss, create greater flexibility in your work life and make an average hourly rate from $25/hour up — all while providing a healing service to people — then massage therapy just might be the occupation you’ve been searching for!
Did you know the massage therapy industry is expected to grow much faster than average over the next 10 years? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of massage therapists is projected to grow 26% from 2016 to 2026, which is faster than the average for other healthcare support occupations (22%) and much faster than all other occupations (7%).
More and more people are taking the time to learn this craft, and there isn’t a better place to get an education in massage therapy than at the Center for Massage & Natural Health.
CFMNH opened its doors on Eagle Street over 20 years ago and is the first licensed massage school in the state of North Carolina. They offer 5 massage certification programs each year; 1 part-time night class (9 months/600 hours) and 4 day classes (6 months/600 hours).
The center is a COMTA-accredited, post-secondary institution and accepts Title IV Federal Financial Aid, which means you can apply for loans and grants to pay for your classes. The center is currently one of most affordable nationally accredited massage programs in the country!
“Our mission is to offer the highest quality education in massage therapy, bodywork and natural healing modalities,” CFMNH Dean of Students Martha Hansen, LMBT, said. “We pride ourselves on having a curriculum and a schedule that is doable, while meeting the highest quality standards and providing exceptional value in the educational process.”
But the center is not just a massage school; it’s also a massage therapy clinic and continuing education center.
The student clinic is always overseen by faculty members, and guidance is given whenever necessary.
The CFMNH Therapy Clinic offers student massages (starting at $35) and professional massages (starting at $69) with appointments available 7 days a week. Their massage therapists take great pride in offering high quality massage for a diverse client base at a fraction of the cost.
Additionally, the center hosts a wide range of massage continuing education courses ranging from international lecturer James Waslaski to local talent Robin Fann-Costanzo. In fact, later this month, CFMNH is holding a course on practical cupping — an ancient form of alternative medicine — with Nate Novgrod, a well-known licensed acupuncturist from Waynesville, NC.
“We are about changing people's lives,” Hansen said. “Whether that change comes through attending our certification program or simply receiving a massage treatment that provides relief or relaxation, we believe in supporting and expanding the natural healing community through all avenues possible.”
CFMNH provides a one-of-a-kind natural health and massage program to help you grow as a person and advance in your career. To learn more about the CFMNH massage programs and clinic schedules, visit their Dig Local profile.
