Food Connection has partnered with Red Wing Enterprises to bring our Service Industry Heroes some awesome live music during the curbside meal distribution at the Downtown Y! We'll be handing out more of those delicious Wicked Weed Brewing meals available to anyone in need. (Please stay in your car and practice social distancing!) Last week featured the sweet tunes of I'Star and Noah Proudfoot! Downtown YMCA, Saturdays, noon until 2pm.

Monday, Wednesday & Friday meals- Our friends at H&F Burger will generously be distributing hearty chef-prepared meals every M., W., F.,  77 Biltmore Avenue, 11 am-2 pm.

As we move further into 2020, we would like to feature even more of the eclectic genres and local talent that help make Asheville shine on the Dig Local Spotify playlist. If you'd like to be considered as an addition to our music compilation, we are accepting submissions for our Spotify playlist now (check out the playlist here).

There are only three requirements to be considered:
  • You or your group must be regionally based in the Asheville area
  • Your song submissions must be all original compositions
  • The songs must be "family-friendly" (no profanity or obscenity or violence) 
If selected, one or two of your songs will be featured in our Spotify playlist. There may also be opportunities to be featured in our Weekly Scoop email and on our social media platforms!

Featured Weekly Virtual Events
LEAF Global Arts welcomes everyone to join them THIS WEEKEND May 15-17 at VLEAF.ORG for the first virtual LEAF Festival experience. This digital weekend experience will be reliving some of our favorite LEAF concerts over the last 25 years as well as streaming a poetry slam, LIVE concerts, panel discussions, global connection, and much more! Mark your calendars and come back for a weekend of music, cultural connection & a whole lot of #LEAFLove.
 
The Asheville Downtown Association is taking Downtown After 5 virtual! Based on state and local guidelines regarding public gatherings, the May 15 and June 19 Downtown After 5 events are going online. Through a partnership with IamAVL and The Orange Peel, Downtown After 5 will be live-streamed to YouTube and Facebook.

The 2020 Downtown After 5 concert series, presented by Prestige Subaru, will feature only local Asheville area bands. May 15’s event features April B. & The Cool and Lyric, and they will be hitting the stage at 5:15pm.
