Where to Go, What to Do, Everyday

Dig Local - Weekly Scoop, July 23 - 29 - Asheville, NC

Have you noticed the growing numbers of local distilleries in Asheville lately? This influx didn’t happen overnight. A few brave individuals like Adam Dalton have paved the way. Dalton Distillery, created in 2011 as the first legal distillery in Downtown Asheville, has dedicated itself to producing, educating, and sharing the experience of locally made, high-quality spirits since day one.

This small batch distillery uses local ingredients and prioritizes sustainability from mash to finish. Their Caribbean style rum is distilled with a traditional Appalachian style distilling process with delicious results. Based in organic agave and distilled five total times, their vodka is also a treat you won't want to miss.

Dalton Distillery practices open flame slow distilling which is what makes all their spirits incredibly smooth. They also produce everything 100% in-house, from mixing the sugars, to labeling the bottles. Not only do they make three types of rum and a crazy good agave vodka, they serve over 60 beers and 40+ other NC spirits at their bar in the South Slope of Downtown Asheville. Be sure to look for Dalton Distillery Spirits at local ABC Stores, restaurants and bars. Dalton Distillery is located at 251 Biltmore Avenue.
