FEAST is a youth cooking and garden education program run by Bountiful Cities in Asheville, working in local public schools and after-school programs since 2009. The name stands for Fresh, Easy, Affordable, Sustainable, Tasty. Kids plant and tend school gardens, then cook fresh fruits and vegetables in hands-on cooking classes and garden lessons, and families can join cooking classes too. Lessons run during the school year on partner program days.
Schools and after-school programs can ask Bountiful Cities about bringing FEAST lessons to their students. Volunteers can sign up to help in the kitchen.
Asheville teachers and parents say kids come home wanting to cook the vegetables they grew, and neighbors like seeing school gardens full again.
