Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) is the airport for Asheville and Western North Carolina, at 61 Terminal Drive in Fletcher, about 20 minutes south of downtown off Interstate 26. Five airlines, Allegiant, American, Delta, Sun Country and United, fly nonstop to 26 destinations, including Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Boston, Denver, New York and Miami. The terminal is being rebuilt through AVL Forward, its biggest project since the airport opened in 1961, and a new baggage claim opened in April 2026. Inside, Aletitude pours local beer and the goods@AVL sells local products like French Broad Chocolate and Devil's Foot sodas. Parking runs from $12 a day in the shuttle lots to $22 a day in the premium lot.

Get to the airport two hours before boarding during busy travel seasons, since construction can slow things down. Park in a shuttle lot to save money.
