Pop/Soul Icon ROBERTA FLACK was born in the Brookside community of Black Mountain and the town is proud to celebrate our native daughter and her amazing musical career. The Swannanoa Valley Museum and White Horse Black Mountain have teamed up to present unique event called FLACKTASTIC celebrating Roberta Flack and her music. Regional favorite KAT WILLIAMS will be the featured vocalist. Kat Wiilliams is an accomplished singer of jazz, blues, rock, pop, gospel and broadway tunes and the perfect vocalist to pay tribute to Roberta Flack. Ms. Williams is known as Asheville’s Queen of Soul and has been compared to icons like Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Mavis Staples and Etta James.
