Four of WNC’s Celtic masters – fiddle champion Maura Shawn Scanlin (of Rakish), piper/whistle player Rosalind Buda (of the Reel Sisters), harp champion Sue Richards and Indie Award-winning multi-instrumentalist Robin Bullock – team up for an evening of Scottish jigs and reels and who knows what else. Born in Boone NC, Maura Shawn Scanlin is a two-time U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion and a winner of the Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship in Perthshire, Scotland. She performs and tours regularly with the duo Rakish, with guitarist Conor Hearn, and has performed across North America and the United Kingdom, appearing at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Izumi Hall, Jordan Hall, Blair Castle, Shalin-Liu Performance Center, and the Sinclair, and festivals including Merlefest, KVMR Celtic Festival, Boston Celtic Music Festival and Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.
