The ceremony will be rescheduled for Thursday, January 22, due to a chilly forecast for the original January 15 date
Join community members for a special ribbon cutting ceremony for the new playground at Stephens-Lee Community Center! 🎉
🥳 The ceremony will feature brief remarks at the playground site, followed immediately by a reception inside the Stephens-Lee Center building. Guests are invited to stay until 5pm to enjoy light bites while mingling with neighbors and project partners.
🛝 The new playground, a tower-style structure featuring soaring deck heights, multiple slides, climbers, and a large shade topper, was made possible through a generous recovery-related donation from Superior Recreational Products and MAPA Recreation via the Superior HOPES program. This addition serves as a vital space for children and families to explore, connect, and discover following the city-wide impacts of Tropical Storm Helene.
🏗️ This project marks APR’s eleventh complete playground replacement since 2019, continuing the City of Asheville’s mission to provide safe and meaningful recreational spaces for all residents.

More than 50 parks offering golf, swimming, tennis, skateboarding, roller hockey, climbing wall, nature center, playgrounds, basketball, community centers, ballfields, picnic shelters, trails and much more.
