April Spring Migration Birding at the Farm

The Scoop

Join us for a morning of birding, fresh air, and a closer look at how regenerative farming and wildlife thrive together. Explore the farm and surrounding forest with birder Clifton Avery of Ventures Birding Tours to spot the vibrant species that call Western North Carolina home in spring. We’ll focus on edge habitat birding and learn how planned grazing and regenerative practices support a thriving local avian population. Late April marks the tail end of spring migration and the height of breeding season — meaning we may see both lingering passage migrants and nesting birds in full song. Species we hope to observe include: Indigo Bunting, Blue Grosbeak, Black-throated Green Warbler, Scarlet Tanager, and Northern Parula — among many others. Farm Director Virginia Hamilton will share how our Holistic Land Management practices work in tandem with local flora and fauna, and how regenerative agriculture supports biodiversity. We’ll break mid-morning for an included biscuit brunch from Butcher Brian’s kitchen — because birding is hungry work.
