The Hop Ice Cream is thrilled to invite families to a special Read Across America: Love of Reading Event on Sunday, March 1, from 2-3 PM at The Hop at 640 Merrimon Ave. This fun and engaging event is designed to celebrate the joy of reading while showcasing diverse stories and authors.
Attendees can look forward to a lively lineup of entertainment, including:

Favorite Book Character Costume Contest:
To add to the excitement, we're inviting kids (and kids at heart!) to dress up as their favorite book character and enter our costume contest! The winner will receive a $50 gift card to The Hop Ice Cream & Pop Bubble Tea. Whether you're channeling The Gruffalo, Ada Twist, Scientist, The Cat in the Hat, or another beloved literary figure, we can’t wait to see your creativity shine!

The Hop Ice Cream has been an Asheville institution since 1978, with imaginative and locally-influenced flavors. Owners Ashley and Greg Garrison opened their first downtown location at S&W Market. The menu features homemade dairy and vegan ice creams, classic milkshakes, sundaes, desserts, and made-from-scratch waffle cones. The Hop’s flagship flavors (Salted Caramel, Vanilla Bean, and Chocolate) will be offered alongside a variety of staples and rotates flavors — often featuring local ingredients and collaborations with Asheville businesses.
