Join us for a spring morning on the farm with birder Clifton Avery of Ventures Birding Tours (@bigbaldbirder on IG) as we explore pasture edges and surrounding forest in search of Western North Carolina’s vibrant spring species. Late May marks the tail end of migration and the height of breeding season. We’ll look for lingering passage migrants along with nesting birds in full song. Species we hope to observe include indigo bunting, blue grosbeak, black-throated green warbler, scarlet tanager, and northern parula — just a few of the many birds that thrive in our diverse edge habitat. Along the way, you’ll learn how planned grazing and Holistic Land Management support local bird populations. Farm Director Virginia will share how our regenerative practices work in tandem with native grasses, wildflowers, and wildlife to create habitat that benefits both livestock and avian life.
