Carpal Tullar

The Scoop

Carpal Tullar is an upbeat rock/art pop band based in Asheville, NC. Chris Tullar has been making Carpal Tullar albums for over 25 years, and the band plays a wide variety of originals and also some covers. The music is infectious, lyrically captivating, and spattered with influences from bands like The Kinks, The Beatles, They Might Be Giants, Ween, and The Beach Boys. The current live band has been active since 2016, and consists of Chris Tullar (lead vocals, keys, guitar), Dave Baker (backing vocals, guitar, keys), Rob Heyer (bass), and Troy Crossley (drums, vocals), whom you may recognize from The Lefties, Ska City, or Modern Strangers. Carpal Tullar has been played on 98.1 The River, WNCW, Asheville FM, appeared on NPR’s All Songs Considered podcast, opened for Tiffany, and even made a musical appearance on the popular NPR radio show Car Talk. In 2022, Carpal Tullar’s song, TSA, was chosen by Holy Crap Records as a top ten song of 2021.
