Shlump is Bay Area producer Michael Petzel, who grew up on guitar, got pulled into electronic music through Aphex Twin and Squarepusher, and eventually developed what he calls "Alien Bass" — a style that takes classic dubstep architecture and wraps it in otherworldly sound design and West Coast atmospherics. He's released on WAKAAN, Deadbeats, and Circus Records, collaborated with Liquid Stranger and LSDream, and played Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Bass Canyon. His sets move through deep, cosmic passages and devastating bass drops without feeling like a formula. Shanghai Doom is a Central Jersey bass duo that has been building a following since 2017 by going darker and more experimental than most of the dubstep landscape. Their sound design is meticulous and their atmospheres are genuinely unsettling in the best way. They've been direct support for LSDream, Shlump, and Champagne Drip, and have played Red Rocks, Lost Lands, and WAKAAN Festival. Doors at 8pm, show at 9pm. 21+. Tickets at thirdroom.art.
