Hot Club of Asheville at The Workshop Lounge

Every Friday from 7:30 to 10 PM, the Hot Club of Asheville brings Django Reinhardt-style gypsy jazz to The Workshop Lounge. The group's acoustic swing sound — racing guitar lines, upright bass, and violin — transforms the cocktail bar into a Parisian jazz club for the evening.

The Hot Club has held down this Friday residency as one of Asheville's most distinctive weekly music offerings. The intimate room and craft cocktail menu make this a proper date-night destination for anyone who wants live music without stadium volume.

The Workshop Lounge is a craft cocktail bar and live music room inside The Foundry Hotel on South Market Street in downtown Asheville's Block neighborhood. The space runs a serious rotating cocktail menu alongside scheduled live music Wednesday through Saturday — jazz residencies, acoustic sets, and small-group ensembles that fill the room without overwhelming it. It's a spot that works as a hotel bar and a neighborhood bar at the same time, which isn't easy to pull off.

"Wednesday nights here are a regular thing for me — the Asheville Jazz Collective plays and it's free, the bartenders are actually good at their jobs, and you can hear the band without shouting across the table. It's the kind of place downtown Asheville needed more of."
