SHINYRIBS at The Grey Eagle plays Wednesday, October 7. Kevin Russell's swamp-funk project out of Austin, been doing this since 2010 after fronting The Gourds. They mix Gulf Coast soul with honky-tonk and released Okra Candy in 2015. Russell wears sequined outfits and the whole thing feels like a sweaty Texas dance party. The room runs both standing and seated depending on how they configure it, so if you want a chair for the full set get there early enough to claim one. The 550-cap space leans toward listening room vibes rather than full-on dance floor chaos, and the taqueria on-site means you can grab food without leaving the building. Parking around the RAD/Clingman area fills up fast, so plan accordingly.
