Saturday afternoon at Jack of the Wood is always a solid move, especially when you can post up early and let the evening unfold from there. The room gets that good weekend energy without the late-night commitment. This downtown pub keeps it raw, musicians set up at floor level in a room where the audience is close enough to see calluses on fingers, no stage riser or light show to get between you and the music. The space has hosted old-time and bluegrass since 1997, back when Green Man was still brewing on-site, and that same stripped-down approach still defines the room today.
