Thursday night at The Social East, which is a solid spot if you're looking for something low-key to kick off the month. The "& Friends" format usually means a relaxed hang, good for a weeknight when you don't want anything too intense. The kitchen here keeps slinging burgers and wings well past midnight when the rest of East Asheville has gone dark, which matters when you're settling in for karaoke or shooting pool and realize it's 1am and you're actually hungry. Cory and Christen Short have been running this spot since 2014 with the understanding that people need real food at unreasonable hours, not just bar snacks.
