The Big Asheville Science Salon brings atmospheric scientist Dr. Douglas Miller to talk about predicting landslides and extreme weather in the mountains. Miller's a professor at UNC Asheville who's spent twenty years studying how the region's terrain amplifies storms and rainfall, work that feels pretty relevant after Helene. The format's casual: doors at five, presentation at seven, then Q&A and mingling after. No cover. The salon happens first Wednesday of every month at The Mule, where the bar pours cocktails and mocktails made with Devil's Foot sodas plus local beer and wine.
