Build Your Own Agave Flight at Mountain Madre

Mountain Madre bills its bar as the biggest agave selection in Western North Carolina, and the easiest way to dig into it is a flight. Pick any three tequilas or mezcals and they come out side by side, or go with a margarita flight if you'd rather have your agave with lime and salt.

The bartenders know the shelf well, so tell them what you usually drink and let them steer you somewhere new. Tacos, nachos and enchiladas from the kitchen turn it into a full night, and there are vegan options on the menu too.

At the downtown bar on 13 West Walnut Street, Tuesday through Saturday from 11 AM and Sundays from noon.

Mountain Madre is the Scully family's Mexican kitchen and agave bar, with the original on Walnut Street downtown and a newer spot up on Merrimon Avenue in North Asheville. The kitchen leans on local farms like Hickory Nut Gap for tacos, enchiladas, bowls and nachos, and the margaritas run on house-made mixes.

Downtown is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday. The Merrimon location does dinner Tuesday through Saturday and opens at noon on Sundays. Both are closed Mondays.
