The buttermilk fried chicken sandwich is why people drive out to a BP station on Sardis Road. It comes stacked with house dilly pickles, sharp cheddar and herbed Duke's mayo, hand-cut chips on the side, and it helped chef Jamie Wade get named North Carolina's Fried Chicken Champ.

Breakfast starts at 7:30 Wednesday through Friday and 8 on Saturday, and lunch runs from 11 Tuesday through Saturday. Order ahead and use the drive-up window.

Sand Hill Kitchen is a scratch-made breakfast and lunch counter inside the BP station at Sand Hill and Sardis Roads, right where West Asheville runs into Enka-Candler. Chef and owner Jamie Wade opened it in January 2017, and in 2022 a statewide magazine contest named her North Carolina's Fried Chicken Champ.
