The walls and ceiling are plastered with decades of dollar bills and old junk that's been accumulating since the early '80s, giving the whole 45-capacity room that proper dive bar patina. Cash only, 21+, and tight enough that you can feel the room breathe when a good act hits the stage.

Town Pump Tavern is Black Mountain's legendary downtown dive bar, known for live music, cheap beers, and a vintage-packed interior. Cash only and fiercely local, with rotating taps, darts, and frequent singer-songwriter and full-band shows.

Locals call it the best “watering hole” for live music, games, and no-frills drinks—open late even on weekdays. “It’s the place where strangers become friends by last call,” and regulars love Wednesdays for singer-songwriter nights (6–8 PM) and Fridays for full bands (9 PM to midnight). It’s not fancy, but the bartenders and patrons are welcoming, and the stories (and tunes) flow all night long.
