Willi Carlisle. The Universal Bubba Tour plays The Grey Eagle on Saturday, January 30. Get there a little early if you want a good spot.

Street parking around Clingman disappears fast, so scout the side streets early or be ready to hoof it from a few blocks out. The room holds around 550 with mostly standing space and some seats, plus there's a taqueria on-site if you want to grab tacos before doors. It's set up more like a listening room than a typical rock club, so the sound stays tight and the focus stays on the stage.

The Grey Eagle is a River Arts District music venue and Asheville's longest-running all-ages room, with something on the calendar almost every night: indie bands, bluegrass legends, punk and the occasional hip-hop set. It started in the 1990s in a garage and grew into a 550-capacity hall with a big stage, great sound, an open dance floor, a patio and an in-house taqueria pouring craft beer.

Locals call The Grey Eagle the real deal for Asheville music, whether it's a local band or a national tour. The crowd is welcoming and into it, and the venue often hosts benefit shows and community events.
