Hot In Herre: 2000s Dance Party plays The Orange Peel on Thursday, December 31. Get there a little early if you want a good spot.

The Orange Peel was designed to handle serious volume, and the sound system backs it up across the entire standing floor. The room holds close to a thousand people with zero bad sightlines, so you're locked in no matter where you post up. Downtown Biltmore Ave location means parking is a hunt, but the venue stays open late enough to make it worth the walk.

The Orange Peel is a live music venue and concert hall at 101 Biltmore Ave in downtown Asheville, open since 2002 and booking national touring acts across rock, hip-hop, indie, electronic and more. The room holds about 1,050, so you stay close to the stage even at a sold-out show, and the wooden dance floor has some spring to it. Downstairs, Pulp is a 21-and-up bourbon bar and lounge with its own smaller shows.

Locals say the sound at The Orange Peel is exceptional for a room this size, so you can hear every instrument even on a packed Saturday night. It's a room worth showing up early for, from sold-out indie nights to hip-hop headliners.
