Monday night on the Grey Eagle patio sounds pretty ideal if you're looking for something low-key to start the week. Outdoor show means you can ease into it without committing to a full indoor venue thing.

The Grey Eagle holds down the RAD at night scene, and once you're inside that 550-cap room it's all about the listen, standing room with some seats scattered around, taqueria fuel on deck if you need it. Parking's tight on Clingman so give yourself a few extra minutes to find a spot, but the all-ages policy and listening room setup make it worth the hunt.

The Grey Eagle is a River Arts District music venue and Asheville's longest-running all-ages room, with something on the calendar almost every night: indie bands, bluegrass legends, punk and the occasional hip-hop set. It started in the 1990s in a garage and grew into a 550-capacity hall with a big stage, great sound, an open dance floor, a patio and an in-house taqueria pouring craft beer.

Locals call The Grey Eagle the real deal for Asheville music, from local bands to national tours. The crowd is welcoming and into it, and the venue often hosts benefit shows and community events.
