Big Al's Mountain Service // Johnny Elkins // Safety Coffin

Big Al's Mountain Service // Johnny Elkins // Safety Coffin plays Fleetwood's on Thursday, October 22 at 8:00 PM. Put it on the calendar now so you don't miss it.

Fleetwood's holds down the West Asheville corner where punk, garage, and local bands pack about 150 heads into a proper dive bar that runs late and doesn't apologize for it. Street parking on Haywood Road handles the crowd, and the standing room plus a few booths keep things loose enough for whatever the night turns into.

West Asheville bar, live music venue, legal wedding chapel, and vintage shop rolled into one, housed in a former pawn shop at 496 Haywood Rd. Hosts rock, punk, and comedy acts along with weekly karaoke and DJ nights. Beer and wine bar only. Capacity around 50. A 1958 Cadillac sits out front; Sunday brings the Junk-O-Rama outdoor vintage market.

Locals say it's hard to explain until you go. Walk past the old Cadillac out front, grab a beer, flip through the vintage racks, then watch a punk band play a few feet from where someone just got married. Weeknights bring live music or karaoke, and Sundays have the flea market.
