Wednesday night at Town Pump Tavern in Black Mountain, doors at 8. It's a solid midweek spot if you're looking for something low-key but still worth the drive up there. Friday nights are when full bands take over from nine until midnight, and with only 45 people crammed into this cash-only room that's been slinging drinks since the early eighties, you're basically standing inside the amp. The dollar-papered walls have seen decades of sets, and there's no cover to get in the door.
