10th Annual WNC Fermenting Festival at Olivette Farm

The WNC Fermenting Festival turns 10 this year, presented by Fermenti. Spend Sunday, November 1, from 11am to 4pm at Olivette Farm in Alexander with more than 30 local and regional fermenters, farmers, potters, crafters and food trucks.

Free demos cover jun, kimchi, sourdough, cheese and mead, and Olivette leads farm tours during the festival. There's live music and plenty for kids to do.

It's free to get in. Bring an appetite and a cooler for the jars you take home.

Fermenti is a Western North Carolina fermented food maker run by CEO Meg Chamberlain, making award-winning kimchi, sauerkrauts, Sichuan carrots, preserved lemons, hot sauce, salsa, chow chow and ramp kimchi, plus fermentation kits and seasonings like Pickle Dust and kimchi spice. Its flagship Kimchi Store is at 175 Weaverville Highway, Unit G, in North Asheville.

Locals who ferment at home stock up here, and everyone else comes for the kimchi and the Ginger Turmeric Pink Kraut. You can try free samples before you buy.
