The walls and ceiling are plastered floor to rafters with signed dollar bills and dusty antiques, the kind of decor that takes decades to accumulate, this spot's been holding down downtown Black Mountain since the early '80s. It's cash only, fits maybe 45 people max, and you might recognize it from Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri if you've got an eye for location work.

Town Pump Tavern is Black Mountain's legendary downtown dive bar, known for live music, cheap beers, and a vintage-packed interior. Cash only and fiercely local, with rotating taps, darts, and frequent singer-songwriter and full-band shows.

Locals call it the best “watering hole” for live music, games, and no-frills drinks, open late even on weekdays. “It’s the place where strangers become friends by last call,” and regulars love Wednesdays for singer-songwriter nights (6 to 8 PM) and Fridays for full bands (9 PM to midnight). It’s not fancy, but the bartenders and patrons are welcoming, and the stories (and tunes) flow all night long.
