The Peel sits right on Biltmore Ave where you can actually walk to bars and food before or after the show, which matters since there's nothing to eat inside. Parking around here is a nightmare, so most people either hoof it from nearby spots or just make a night of the whole downtown strip.

The Orange Peel is a live music venue and concert hall at 101 Biltmore Ave in downtown Asheville, open since 2002 and booking national touring acts across rock, hip-hop, indie, electronic and more. The room holds about 1,050, so you stay close to the stage even at a sold-out show, and the wooden dance floor has some spring to it. Downstairs, Pulp is a 21-and-up bourbon bar and lounge with its own smaller shows.

Locals say the sound at The Orange Peel is exceptional for a room this size, so you can hear every instrument even on a packed Saturday night. It's a room worth showing up early for, from sold-out indie nights to hip-hop headliners.
