Well Crafted Music Series with Matt Smith

Well Crafted Music Series with Matt Smith plays Highland Brewing on Wednesday, November 11 at 6:00 PM. Easy one to plan a night around.

Highland's been brewing since before most Asheville spots existed, and their Meadow setup makes weekend shows stress-free with actual parking and room to spread out. Covered stage keeps things comfortable, food trucks handle dinner, and you can bring the dog on a leash while kids run around the grass before sunset.

Highland Brewing is Asheville's first craft brewery, on a 40-acre campus off Old Charlotte Highway in East Asheville. Oscar Wong started it in 1994 on old dairy equipment in the basement of Barley's Taproom, and Gaelic Amber Ale and Cold Mountain Winter Ale have been on the list ever since.

These days the taproom pours Daycation IPA, Highland Haze, Highland Pilsner and small batches you only find on site. Bands play four nights a week in the taproom and out in the Meadow, food trucks park daily, and there's an 18-hole disc golf course, sand volleyball courts and a natural playground for kids. Open daily, noon on weekdays and 11 on weekends.

Locals treat it like a backyard. Families spread out on the lawn while the kids run the playground, disc golfers stop in after a round, and the Meadow fills up on weekend afternoons when a band is playing. Cold Mountain release weekend in November is the one people put on the calendar.
