Shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, CIA agents Chris and Lee are dispatched from Santiago to Easter Island by their bureau chief, MJ. Among the island's iconic statues, the longtime partners wrestle with their dark pasts and present conspiracies while Chris's newfound bond with a pair of rebellious students threatens to send everyone's trip to this remote paradise sideways.

Rated R, 118 minutes. Directed by Martin McDonagh and starring John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell and Steve Buscemi.

Friday November 6 through Thursday November 12 at 1, 4:30 and 7:30 PM at Fine Arts Theatre. The 1 and 7:30 PM shows are in the main auditorium, and the 4:30 PM shows are in the upstairs auditorium (no elevator).

Fine Arts Theatre is a downtown Asheville movie house at 36 Biltmore Avenue showing first-run independent, foreign and art films. It opened in 1947 as The Strand, downtown's first-run theater, and now runs a main auditorium and an upstairs screen. Beyond new releases, it hosts classic film nights with an introduction and discussion, recently His Girl Friday and A Matter of Life and Death, plus festival screenings like the Mountain Lights Film Festival. General admission is $11, with $9 matinees before 6 pm and $9 tickets for seniors.

Downtown regulars catch the matinees, and the neon marquee on Biltmore Avenue is a favorite night photo.
